I was born in a Norwegian community in northern Wisconsin to second generation Norwegian parents. My family moved to Milwaukee when I was five. Happiest childhood memories were of summers spent on my grandmother's farm in Dallas, Wisconsin. Together with sisters and cousins we roamed the countryside, picked wild flowers and berries, helped to bring in cows from the north pasture at milking time, climbed apple trees, watched men haying in the fields, chased fireflies in the evening and counted falling stars at night. Early in life I was awed by God's unspeakable creation-- the rolling Wisconsin hills, brilliant sunsets, shimmering aurora borealis, and almost touchable stars and Milky Way.

My Interest in art began in grade school and was further nurtured by my high school art teacher Ruth Lassen, to whom I owe much for her encouragement. After High School I studied briefly at the Layton School of Art in Milwaukee. I developed a traditional art style and worked in oil and watercolor. Later I learned to sculpt in stone and wood.

After I married, my husband and I moved to Scotland where he completed PhD studies at Edinburgh University. Our two sons were born in Edinburgh, and I concentrated on watercolor painting at this time. Returning to the United States my husband began a career as a Professor of Philosophy and I completed a BA degree in English at Gordon College.

After graduation I worked at Gordon College as Director of Public Information with responsibility for organizing art shows among other things. Five years later I began a 23-year career in the air line industry. Although working full-time I continued to paint and study with artists Conger Metcalf, Helen VanWyk, Joel Babb of the Museum School and most recently with sculptor James Zingarelli, and watercolor artist Betty Lou Schlemm.

Opportunities to travel in the United States, Great Britain, Ireland, France, Italy, Africa, Malta and New Zealand fed my passion to capture on canvas moments of unbelievable beauty. Since leaving the air line industry I have pursued painting and sculpting full-time.My paintings and sculpture have been exhibited at the Copley Society of Art, Boston, the North Shore Art Association, Newburyport Art Association and various galleries. Many paintings are in private collections in the United States, New Zealand and Europe.
